Lucas Nogueira
Lucas Nogueira is a specialist in the development of advanced autonomous systems, particularly in SLAM and LiDAR-based mapping.
With a Master of Science in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University and a background in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering, Lucas has a strong foundation in cutting-edge robotics. His significant past experience includes leading the SLAM efforts for Team Explorer in the DARPA Subterranean Challenge, where his contributions helped the team achieve the most sectors explored and high mapping accuracy and robustness.
Before his current role, Lucas developed state-estimation algorithms based on LiDAR, IMU, GPS, and cameras for Kaarta and Near Earth Autonomy, and played a key role in migrating academic algorithms such as LOAM and SuperOdometry into solutions that are ready for real-world deployments and commercialization.
